How to import CSV files

If you have a list of coordinates or asset data in a spreadsheet you can skip the manual drawing and upload your data directly into Land App using our CSV Import tool

Updated today

This functionality is available in a Standard & Professional subscription. Please note that the files need to have latitude and longitude co-ordinates for each row and this feature only supports the creation of point data.

To import you can simply drag and drop you CSV file into the map.

The import stepper will then begin. Here you can confirm which column(s) are used to use for the co-ordinates - the system tries to auto-detect which column(s) to use based on the content of the file and selects this by default, but you can change it if needed. Once happy with the selection click on next.

Select the template then click on Next.

Change the plan name if needed and select Finish.

Your data will import as a plan in the left hand panel. When a feature is selected the right hand panel appears showing the attributes.

If the column headings match the attribute values on the Land App template (e.g. name, description), then the column data is added for the corresponding attribute.

This also works for assigned uses and the column header for this needs to be laFeatureType . Please note that but the column values need to match the feature type that exist in the template , e.g. if you import a Cattle Grid to Blank template, you need to use a value of cattle_grid instead of Cattle Grid but if the column headings do not match any attributes, a custom attribute is created and will be available in the right hand panel.
