What is LPIS

  • The Land Parcel Identification System (LPIS) is a web-based geographical information system developed by the Scottish government for registering and managing agricultural land.

  • LPIS captures land boundaries eligible for grants or subsidies and facilitates management of livestock movement and disease control.

  • LPIS provides spatial information to the Rural Payment System to ensure accurate entitlement calculations and payments for claimants.

  • Users can view and interact with their business location data within LPIS via the Rural Payment System, enabling easy online submission of changes without the need for physical forms.

How to export your data as a Shapefile

When in the LPIS system navigate to the Data Tab

Utilise the "Export Shapefiles tool to initiate the export process.

Enter the specific location code and click the export button to commence the process.

After initiating the export, you have the option to wait for the shapefiles to generate or provide your email address.

If you opt for the email option, a link will be sent to your email for downloading the exported shapefiles, which will include parcels, ineligible features, and EFAs (Economic Factors Analysis).

The shapefile download will be in the downloads section of your browser and will be a zipped file.

You need to unzip the file first and then import all the files in the series to your Land App map, this guidance shows how.
