How to complete a Baseline Habitat Assessment and Land Management Plan

To create a Baseline Habitat Plan click on the New button in the top left of your screen.

Select Use template.

Choose the Baseline Habitat Assessment template.

Next select your import type

Name your plan and select Finish.

Rename field parcel data in the boundaries section (if required) click here to find out how.


Recommended workflow if you have a Basic Payment Scheme/Crop Plan

We would recommend that you first create a Basic Payment Scheme/Crop Plan and then duplicate this plan onto a Baseline Habitat Assessment template. This allows us to do some auto translation of BPS code to the UK Habitat codes used on an

In your BPS plan you can add any feature with a BPS code (e.g. hedges, crop types, temporary grasslands and farm infrastructure).

REMEMBER; to ensure that each feature is contained within the correct field parcel, please select the field before hitting draw.

Once your BPS plan is completed and all features have been assigned a use duplicate your plan onto a new Baseline Habitat Assessment plan.

Click on the three vertical dots next to your BPS plan and select duplicate.

Select the plan type Baseline Habitat Assessment (BHA), give your plan a name and select Create plan.

You plan will be visible in the left hand panel and features displayed on the map,

Select a feature on your plan and a right hand panel will appear. This will allow you to assign a use, add a secondary code and condition score.

You may also wish to add additional features such as complete and partial buffers and subtract areas away from features.


Duplicate selected features onto a Land Management Plan

You can select or multi select features (holding down the shift key) from your Baseline Habitat Assessment plan and copy these to a new Land Management Plan. Once selected right click and Copy to plan.

Select Create a new plan, give it a name and click on Create new plan for features.

The selected feature/features will now be copied to your LMP plan.

Now you can assign the feature to the habitat type or management you are wanting it to become.

Select or multi select features and the Feature details menu will appear click on Change to assign a use.
